Mini has expanded its Countryman line-up with the Untamed Edition, a more rugged variant of its compact crossover that adds a lifted suspension, all-terrain tyres and a range of adventure-themed accessories. The model is aimed at buyers seeking a touch more capability and a more distinctive look, though it stops short of being a true off-roader.
The Untamed Edition is distinguished by a unique grille with Dark Steel accents and vertical elements, a textured matte black protective film and an Untamed logo on the C-pillar. Modified side skirts and a revised rear diffuser complete the exterior changes. Buyers can choose from three exclusive colours — Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and Frozen Nomad Blue — with the latter marking the first matte paint finish ever offered on a series-production Mini. Midnight Black and Nanuq White are also available.
On certain variants, the suspension is lifted to provide an additional 0.7 inches (19 mm) of ground clearance, a combination of the raised ride height and the fitment of special 19-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus tyres. This applies to all versions destined for Canada and the United States, as well as electric variants in Europe. Underbody protection painted in Dark Steel further reinforces the rugged theme.
Inside, the Untamed Edition features exclusive Nightshade Blue sports seats with perforated Vescin upholstery, knitted upper sections and Untamed badging. Cornflower Blue contrast stitching and piping, along with specially developed Millennial Melange flourishes, add further distinction. Dark Steel accents, special floor mats and a centre console storage box inspired by adventure backpacks complete the cabin.
To bolster the adventure positioning, Mini has partnered with Autohome for a pop-up A-frame tent and with Helinox for a set of lightweight folding chairs and camping tables. These accessories share what the company describes as the distinctive design language of the Untamed Edition.
Production of the Countryman Untamed Edition is scheduled to begin in November, with deliveries expected to start early next year. The model will be based on the C, D, E, S ALL4 and SE ALL4 variants depending on the market. In the United States, it will be offered in versions based on the Countryman S ALL4 and Countryman SE ALL4. Pricing starts at $43,900, excluding a $1,350 destination fee.
The Untamed Edition arrives as Mini continues to broaden the appeal of the Countryman, its largest model. While the variant adds visual and practical touches for outdoor enthusiasts, the company has not positioned it as a hardcore off-road vehicle. The lifted suspension and all-terrain tyres are intended to provide modest extra capability rather than compete with dedicated SUVs. The introduction of a matte paint option also signals Mini’s willingness to experiment with finishes previously reserved for custom or aftermarket projects.
With deliveries set to begin in the coming months, the Untamed Edition will test whether buyers in the premium compact crossover segment are willing to pay a premium for a more rugged aesthetic and a handful of adventure-ready accessories. The model’s success could influence whether Mini expands similar special editions across its range in the future.
