Cage The Elephant have announced their seventh studio album, Dying In Reverse, set for release on February 5, 2027 through Big Loud Rock. The Kentucky rock group have also released Make It Easy, a guitar-driven lead single that signals the direction of the record. Pre-orders for the twelve-track set are now open.
The album follows Neon Pill, released in 2024, and marks the first full-length the band has made since leaving RCA Records. Make It Easy is the lead single, and the title track has been shared as well, with the band having previewed the record earlier through the single Beaches In Tennessee. Together, the releases give listeners a clear sense of the heavier, riff-forward sound that runs through the new material.
Frontman Matthew Shultz described the record as a creative high point for the group and as a goodbye to a particular chapter of their career. The band's recent run was shaped by a long stretch of touring. They spent much of 2025 supporting Oasis on their tour, and rather than take a break once that run ended, they went straight into the studio to begin work on the new songs. That momentum, Shultz suggested, is audible across the album.
The release also arrives against a backdrop of personal difficulty for Shultz. In 2023, he was detained in a hotel over firearms, which were licensed only in Kentucky and Tennessee. A court later found that the arrest stemmed from psychotic delusions linked to prescribed medication. Shultz was hospitalised for two months and then completed six months of outpatient therapy. His return to recording and a public announcement of a major new album marks a notable turn after that period.
Looking ahead, Cage The Elephant plan a UK and European tour in 2027 to support the release. Dates and remaining tickets are listed on the band's website. The tour will bring the new songs to audiences overseas as the album rolls out in the months before its February date.
