Man who claimed to be LeBron James' son arrested for stalking at Los Angeles home

Los Angeles police arrested a man Friday night outside LeBron James' Brentwood home on felony stalking charges after he reportedly told officers he believed he was the star's son.

Los Angeles police arrested a man on felony stalking charges Friday night at the Brentwood home of LeBron James, after the suspect reportedly told officers he believed he was the basketball star's son. The Los Angeles Police Department said the arrest was made at the residence without incident.

According to the LAPD, security personnel spotted the suspect near the property at around 9 p.m. Security called 911, and officers took the man into custody. The suspect did not enter the home, according to a report from TMZ. He was booked on felony stalking charges.

James' representatives declined to comment on the arrest. The incident comes at a time when the four-time NBA champion is adjusting to a new chapter in his career. James now plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, his first season with the franchise, after spending eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.

On the court Friday, Cleveland beat Philadelphia 119-95. James scored eight points in the game, and the loss dropped the 76ers to 8-2 on the season. James is averaging 14.8 points, 7.4 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game this season.

James keeps a residence in New York and commutes to Philadelphia by helicopter, according to the reporting. The arrest in Los Angeles is a reminder of the security concerns that often accompany high-profile athletes, who can attract unwanted attention at their homes and away from the arena.
