The Romanian platform Vola.ro is entering the tour operating segment and launching Flight + Hotel packages, announced on Wednesday. The company aims to become a one-stop shop for holidays, where customers can book both the flight and the accommodation from a single search.
According to the press release, users build the package at the moment of searching, choosing the desired flight and accommodation. The two services can be booked together, at a lower price than if purchased separately. The packages also include free protection for both components: if the flight or the accommodation is cancelled, the customer benefits either from a refund or an alternative. Searching and booking are available at any time, including on Sundays.
The expansion comes shortly after the launch of hotel and apartment bookings, another step through which the platform is diversifying its offer. Matei Psatta speaks on behalf of Vola.ro and explains the company's strategy as a desire to respond to a real need of travelers. A 2025 study shows that 44% of Romanians organize holidays on their own, while another 28% use online platforms exclusively. According to the same study, travelers ask for help mainly after they have made the booking, and the protection included in the packages is presented as a response to this need.
To illustrate the offer, the company cited several price examples. A package to Cyprus starts from 112 euros per person, and one to Malta from 122 euros per person, for three nights. For Prague, the price starts from 193 euros per person, for a four-star hotel. A longer trip to Phuket, with nine nights and a stopover, starts from 842 euros per person. The offer covers both European and intercontinental destinations, including Dubai, Tokyo and New York.
Vola.ro is a Romanian platform founded in 2007, also active in Poland, Bulgaria and Moldova. Its services target both individuals and companies, and also include insurance. The platform was ranked first in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe for three years. The company is part of the ITH group, and in 2024 Resource Partners bought 80% of this group.
The press release does not specify sales figures or the number of users of the new service, so the impact of the expansion into tour operating remains, for now, unevaluated.
