TIME and Statista have published their 2026 ranking of America's Best Brands, According to Each Generation. The list is based on an independent survey of more than 33,000 Americans across four age groups: Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z. Respondents evaluated brands on user experience, customer service, reputation for quality and likelihood of recommendation.
The survey covered brands and service providers in 112 categories, drawing on a national online panel. Participants had to have made a purchase, used a service or looked for information about a brand within the past three years, either in person or online. In total, more than 220,000 cross-demographic evaluations were collected. The survey took an average of 10 minutes to complete, and the field period ran from March to May 2026.
Likelihood of recommendation accounted for 50 percent of each brand's final score. The remaining 50 percent was split equally among three criteria. User experience measured the end-to-end journey, including easy access, clear information, meaningful personalization and intuitive technology. Customer service measured the speed of responses, the knowledge and relevance of support, and the accessibility of priority options. Reputation for quality measured consistent and reliable performance that fosters trust and safety, along with transparent communication about return policies and warranties where applicable.
For most categories, brands had to be available to U.S. consumers. Categories involving location-dependent services had to be present in at least two census regions. The top three to five brands in each category and generation, depending on category size, received the 2026 award. TIME notes that the ranking reflects the last three calendar years of data and that events after August 31, 2026, and actions by individuals associated with the brands were not included. The publication cautions that the ranking should not be the sole source of information for consumer decisions, and that brands left off the list are not considered to be lower in quality.
