Foo Fighters took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl backed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, delivering a set that mixed career-spanning hits with deep cuts the band had not played live in years. The concert, held on August 22, featured the full orchestra alongside members of the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, with Gustavo Dudamel conducting.
The performance was part of a series of shows celebrating Dudamel's 17-year tenure at the LA Philharmonic. Foo Fighters played 15 songs across the evening, including staples such as «All My Life», «The Pretender», «Learn To Fly» and «Best Of You». The band also reached into its back catalogue for several rarities, marking the first performance of «I Should Have Known» since 2012, «Razor» for the first time since 2006, and «Home» for the first time since 2007.
Frontman Dave Grohl dedicated «Aurora» to the band's late drummer Taylor Hawkins, and the night closed with «Everlong» as fireworks lit up the Hollywood sky. The full setlist included «Times Like These», «All My Life», «The Pretender», «Walk», «A320», «My Hero», «Learn To Fly», «The Sky Is A Neighborhood», «Run», «I Should Have Known», «Razor», «Aurora», «Best Of You», «Home» and «Everlong».
The Hollywood Bowl appearance was not the first time Grohl and Dudamel shared a stage. The pair previously collaborated at Coachella 2025, where they performed orchestral versions of «The Sky Is A Neighborhood» and «Everlong».
Foo Fighters are currently touring in support of their 12th studio album, «Your Favorite Toy», released in April. The record received a three-and-a-half-star review from NME, which noted that the band has rediscovered that «no-frills punk, played fast and loud, suits them much better than middle-of-the-road dad-rock».
Earlier this month, the band released the live EP «Are Playing Where??? Vol. II», featuring six recordings captured at intimate shows in New York and New Jersey. Their upcoming schedule includes a performance at Rock In Rio on September 4 and a one-night-only opening slot for AC/DC in St. Louis, before resuming their own headlining tour.
Grohl has described the opportunity to support AC/DC as «literally a dream come true», telling fans: «If you want blood…you've got it. Let there be fucking rock, St. Louis.»
