Electromontaj, the central unit of the energy group Grup EM, is launching a large-scale recruitment campaign to support its strategic development globally. The company is looking for electricians, work-at-height teams and staff for project coordination and management, at a time when it is strengthening its presence in national and international energy infrastructure.
Founded in 1949, Electromontaj designs, builds, modernises and maintains Romania's energy infrastructure. The company currently has more than 200 active projects, four of which are of national importance. Its activity takes place in Romania, but also in Cyprus, the Netherlands and Poland, where dedicated international teams operate. The company thus serves both the country's transmission and distribution network and projects located outside its borders.
Among its recent achievements is the installation of the first two STATCOM units on Romania's transmission network, at the Sibiu Sud and Bradu substations. The company presented this project as a first for the entire southern European region, an important step in modernising voltage control and grid stability. Electromontaj also completed the Pietroiu–Ștefan cel Mare hydro-amelioration scheme and connected the Vifor solar park, with a capacity of 460 MW, to the national grid. Abroad, the company carried out its first project in Finland, a 66 km double-circuit 400/110 kV overhead line, which marks the entry of its activity into a Nordic market.
For the coming period, the company has several important projects underway. These include the rehabilitation of the Vidraru hydropower plant, a modernisation work on one of the country's best-known hydroenergy sites. The Alba Iulia substation is also set to become the first fully digital electrical substation in Romania, and the 400 kV Gădălin–Suceava line is already under construction. The available notes, however, do not specify the execution schedule for these works, so it is not possible to estimate when they will be completed.
Electromontaj currently has more than 1,500 employees, active in Bucharest, Pitești, Craiova, Bacău and the Iași branch, recently reopened. The international teams in Cyprus, Poland and the Netherlands complete the company's structure and support projects outside the country. Human resources director Dana Preda spoke about the team expansion strategy, which targets both technical and coordination staff. The notes, however, do not indicate a target number of positions to be filled, nor the period in which recruitment is expected to be completed.
To train its own workforce, the company runs its own vocational school, PRO ELM, authorised by the Ministries of Labour and Education. For over 14 years, the school has delivered specialised courses for electricians, allowing the company to train part of its technical staff within the organisation. This approach directly supports the current campaign, in which electricians represent one of the main categories sought.
Electromontaj is part of Grup EM, which has more than 2,000 employees and has been listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange since 2025. The group includes, among other subsidiaries, Hidroconstrucția, Emfor, Electrotehnica EM and Iproeb, which together cover several segments of the energy infrastructure construction and maintenance chain.
