Tiger Woods is expected to appear at a Florida courthouse Wednesday morning for a hearing on a possible plea change in his DUI case, according to court records. The five-time Masters champion faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to testing, both stemming from a rollover crash on Jupiter Island in March.
The plea conference is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Martin County Courthouse. A court notice filed Tuesday moved the appearance up from a previously scheduled Sept. 8 date. It remains unclear whether Woods plans to change his plea or whether his attorneys have reached an agreement with prosecutors. Fox News Digital attempted to contact Woods' legal team but did not immediately receive a response.
Authorities found Woods at the crash scene in Martin County, roughly 40 miles outside West Palm Beach. An arrest affidavit said Woods did not pass a field sobriety test and had prescription painkillers in his pocket. He also received a citation for careless driving. In the aftermath, Woods announced he would step away from the public eye and explore personal recovery treatment options.
The March incident added to a series of crashes involving Woods and created another obstacle in his latest comeback bid after years of injuries. Woods was seriously injured in a February 2021 single-vehicle crash outside Los Angeles, when his SUV rolled several times and left him trapped inside. Emergency surgery treated open fractures in his lower right leg, and doctors placed a rod in his tibia and inserted screws and pins in his foot and ankle. He remained hospitalized for several weeks following the procedure.
Though Woods remains away from competition, he has continued to follow the game closely. On Sunday, he congratulated Scottie Scheffler on social media after the world No. 1 won the Tour Championship, secured his second FedEx Cup title and passed Woods atop the PGA Tour's career earnings list.
