President Donald Trump announced Wednesday at the White House that the Alaska LNG pipeline has been fully constructed, is already transporting natural gas, and has begun shipping to South Korea, a project he described as «the most beautiful tube ever built by human hands.»
According to Trump, the pipeline now spans the entire state of Alaska, with a second parallel pipeline under construction to carry «the extra gas we're going to find once we start looking properly.» He added that South Korea had agreed to purchase «every molecule» and that the first tanker had already docked in Busan.
Within hours, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung stated that no pipeline exists, no tanker has docked, and no agreement has been signed. «We have not decided anything,» Lee said. «We have not even decided to decide.»
Trump responded by announcing a third pipeline, a fourth, and a commemorative fifth pipeline that will carry no gas but will exist solely to honor the first four. He also declared that Alaska will now be spelled with an additional «a» to accommodate the extra gas.
South Korean officials have requested a map. The White House has offered a drawing.
