Basement have announced a UK and European leg of their 'WIRED' tour, set to take place in February 2027. The alt-rock band will play 14 shows across the continent and the British Isles, beginning in Amsterdam and concluding in Dublin.
The run opens February 2 at Melkweg MAX in Amsterdam, followed by dates in Brussels, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, and Cologne. The UK and Ireland portion starts February 13 at the O2 Institute in Birmingham, with stops in Bristol, Glasgow, Norwich, London, Manchester, Belfast, and Dublin. Support on all dates comes from Fleshwater and Béton Armé.
Tickets go on artist pre-sale Wednesday, August 26 at 10am BST, with general sale beginning Friday, August 28 at the same time. The announcement follows the band's appearance at All Points East x Outbreak festival on August 23.
The tour supports 'WIRED', Basement's first new album in over eight years, released in May. The record marks a return for the group, who have built a following on both sides of the Atlantic since their early days blending grunge revivalism with a modern alt-rock edge.
In a 2019 interview with NME, frontman Andrew Fisher discussed the band's relationship with the 'rock' label, saying he was initially "really scared" to apply it to their music. "I associate that with big hair and over-the-top guitar playing, or whatever," he said. "But I can't deny it anymore. That, now, is the label that I'm happiest to accept."
Fisher also noted the breadth of guitar-based music available to modern bands, from My Bloody Valentine's textural approach to heavier, down-tuned sounds. "I just think, with trends of music at the moment, I think people are almost scared to be like, 'Hey, we're a rock band.' It's okay — you can just plug in a guitar and play!"
The band's 2018 album 'Beside Myself' received a four-star review from NME, with critic Tom Connick noting how the group had evolved from their earlier work. "For years, Basement thrived on the fuzz and flannel of grunge revivalism," Connick wrote. "With major label debut 'Beside Myself', however, the Ipswich-via-USA rockers have flipped their approach, finding solid ground in the present day."
