SEATTLE — A routine seating dispute at Lumen Field escalated into a full-scale stadium reorganization Wednesday night when a Patriots fan refused to vacate a seat in Section 314, prompting Seahawks officials to announce that every ticket holder in the 69,000-seat venue will be re-measured and reassigned according to height, weight, and lung capacity before the next home game.
According to stadium ushers, the incident began when the visiting fan sat in an empty seat that did not correspond to his ticket. When asked to move, he declined. Security was summoned. A stadium staffer was knocked over. One Seahawks fan attempted to physically remove the visitor from the section, and the situation expanded into a multi-person brawl that ended with the Patriots fan in handcuffs.
In response, the Seahawks front office convened an emergency session and approved a new «Universal Seating Doctrine», effective immediately. Under the plan, all fans will be sorted into tiers based on a proprietary «Fan Intensity Index» calculated from vocal volume, arm length, and willingness to stand for the entire game. Section 314 will be demolished and rebuilt as a neutral zone patrolled by retired referees.
«We simply cannot have people sitting wherever they want», said a stadium operations director who requested anonymity. «From now on, your seat is determined by a formula. If you do not like it, you may watch from the parking lot, where we have installed 4,000 folding chairs and a large screen».
