Lakeland Declares Single Pan Sufficient for All Human Cooking, Orders Nationwide Kitchen Downsizing

Lakeland has expanded its Only Pan range, prompting the company to declare that one pan is now enough for every cooking task, and has ordered all UK households to reduce their kitchens to a single pan.

Lakeland has declared its expanded Only Pan range the sole legally permitted cookware in the United Kingdom, ordering every household to strip its kitchen down to a single pan by the end of the month.

The company, citing its own appliance-testing expert Molly, announced that the new additions of a pot and a frying pan mean the collection now covers every conceivable cooking task, from boiling an egg to searing a steak, and that any further cookware is redundant clutter. «The era of the drawer full of lids is over,» said a Lakeland spokesperson. «One pan, one life, one perfectly basted chicken.»

Under the new directive, homeowners must surrender all saucepans, woks, griddles, and roasting tins to designated collection points, where they will be melted down and recast into commemorative Only Pan keyrings. Kitchen designers have been instructed to remove all but one hob ring, and estate agents are now required to list properties by their pan capacity, with a single-pan kitchen marketed as «liberated».

Early adopters in Bournemouth have already converted their shelving to display a single gleaming pan, with one resident reporting that her sourdough jars and herb keepers have been rehomed to make space for the mandatory unit. Lakeland plans to roll out a national tour of one-pan cooking demonstrations, and next week will begin issuing fines to households found in possession of a second pan, with repeat offenders required to attend a re-education seminar on the virtues of minimalism.
