A pensioner from Trentino-Alto Adige has been ordered by INPS to repay 93,000 euros after spending one day as an extra on the set of the television series Brennero, and has now been offered a lifetime contract as a full-time background actor to settle the debt.
The man, identified only as a resident of the province, received the repayment demand after the agency determined that his single day of work constituted a permanent change in employment status. According to a statement from the regional INPS office, the pensioner is required to appear in every future episode of the series, standing silently in the background of every scene, until the full amount is recovered.
«We are pleased to offer a structured repayment plan that allows the citizen to contribute to the cultural life of the nation while resolving his position,» said a spokesperson for the agency. «He will report to the set each morning at six and remain in frame for no fewer than twelve hours per day. The debt will be adjusted annually for inflation.»
Production of Brennero has been expanded to include the pensioner in every shot, including interior scenes, crowd sequences, and close-ups of other actors. The show's budget has been revised upward to cover the cost of keeping him on set, a sum that INPS has agreed to deduct from his pension. Neighboring regions have asked whether their own retirees might be eligible for similar arrangements.
