Gamescom Opening Night Live delivered a packed showcase of announcements and updates, with the biggest news being a comprehensive remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The free upgrade arrives September 29, bringing enhancements to visuals, performance, and gameplay. Players will also gain free access to the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions ahead of the upcoming Songs of the Past DLC, which is slated for next year.
The showcase included a new trailer for Songs of the Past, offering a first look at the region of Letten. According to the press materials, the area is an idyllic land rich in rural tradition and folklore, where residents enjoy bountiful harvests and lavish festivals. However, a dark secret lurks beneath the surface, and Geralt must face never-before-seen foes to overcome a long-dormant evil.
Beyond the Witcher, the event highlighted several other major titles. The viral hit Mewgenics, one of the best-reviewed games of 2026, is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 8. Crimson Desert also received attention, with an enhanced update going live today that adds new cutscenes and story moments to the main questline, along with voiceover support in German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese.
Gears of War fans got a new trailer for the prequel E-Day, which will tell the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera and serve as an origin story for Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. The game is scheduled for release on October 6. Additionally, Angela Sant’Albano, known as Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Requiem, was announced as the star of Tides of Annihilation, a new fantasy-action game set in a dystopian version of London.
The showcase also featured new trailers for several other anticipated games. Silent Hill: Townfall launches September 24, 2026, while Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy arrives tomorrow. Control Resonant is also set for September 24, and Sea of Remnants is targeting an early 2027 release. Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse gave fans their first look at Nodus Fall, a mature fantasy role-playing game that appears similar to Elden Ring, with co-op support and no confirmed release date yet.
Rayman’s 30th anniversary was celebrated with Legends Retold, launching in October and featuring four musical stages inspired by tracks like «Macarena» and MC Hammer’s «U Can’t Touch This.» Lego fans can look forward to Lego Skylines, a cozy city-builder from the creators of Cities: Skylines, with no release date announced. Finally, Stage Tour, the spiritual successor to Guitar Hero, is set to launch later this year with more than 90 songs on its soundtrack.
