The Dorna factory in Poiana Negrii has been enlarged until the village itself is now a single continuous bottling hall, with the last warehouse wall standing four kilometres from the first production line and the local bus route rerouted through the syrup tanks. Coca-Cola announced the completion of the works on Tuesday, describing the result as «a modest upgrade of our storage footprint».
Under the plan, every household in Poiana Negrii received a bottling-line timetable instead of a street address. Residents now commute to their own kitchens along marked conveyor lanes, and the village priest has been issued a high-visibility vest for the two minutes each morning when his church is briefly inside the filling zone.
«We have not relocated anyone,» said plant director Vasile Coroamă. «The people are exactly where they were. It is the factory that has grown around them, which is a different thing entirely and much more efficient.»
The company has also introduced a night shift for the surrounding forest, which is now counted as warehouse overflow and is swept twice daily by a team of eleven. Local shepherds have been retrained as quality inspectors and must taste every batch before it leaves the valley.
By next week, the plant intends to extend the line to the Ukrainian border, where a single bottle will be filled, capped and handed directly to the customs officer on duty.
