Kraftwerk Announce Two UK Outdoor Shows Ahead of Glastonbury 2027

The German electronic pioneers will play Halifax's Live at The Piece Hall on June 22 and Cardiff Castle on June 23, 2027, with tickets going on sale Friday at 10am BST.

Kraftwerk will return to the UK next summer for two outdoor concerts, both scheduled just before Glastonbury Festival's 2027 edition. The pioneering German electronic group will perform at Halifax's Live at The Piece Hall series on June 22 and at Cardiff Castle as part of the DEPOT Live series the following night, June 23.

The Cardiff date places Kraftwerk on a bill that already includes Sonny Fodera, Ronan Keating, Blue, James Morrison, Jack Savoretti, and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. In Halifax, the band joins a 2027 line-up featuring Rick Astley, Kaiser Chiefs, Suki Waterhouse, Angine De Poitrine, Rudimental and others.

Nick Saunders, founder of DEPOT Live, described the booking as a significant coup for the Welsh capital. «Kraftwerk really are true pioneers of electronic music so we are thrilled to be welcoming them to Cardiff Castle,» he said. «To have secured one of just two UK dates will make this a truly memorable occasion and one which will attract both our loyal audience as well as people who will want to travel to be part of this moment.»

Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday at 10am BST. The announcement positions Kraftwerk's UK appearances in the same window as Glastonbury's return to Worthy Farm, which runs from June 23 to 27 after a fallow year in 2026. No Glastonbury performers have been officially confirmed, though speculation about the 2027 bill has already begun.

Early bookmakers' favourites for headline slots include Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Harry Styles, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C., Muse and The Rolling Stones. Sam Fender and Harry Styles have both announced 2027 tours that leave a gap over the Glastonbury weekend, while Fontaines D.C. currently have the Friday open ahead of two shows at Slane Castle.

Ronnie Wood recently said he would play Glastonbury «at the drop of a hat,» though he admitted he did not know whether his Rolling Stones bandmates shared that view. Robbie Williams has announced outdoor shows for the week immediately after the festival, prompting suggestions he could fill the Sunday Legends Slot. Tame Impala and Angine De Poitrine have also been mentioned in speculation.

Organiser Emily Eavis has already ruled out two major names, dismissing Madonna speculation with «No, it's definitely not Madonna» and responding to calls for Oasis to headline with «Not this time!» The full line-up poster is not expected until next year, usually around March or April.

Glastonbury 2025 was headlined by The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, with performances from Charli XCX, Wolf Alice, Rod Stewart, Doechii, RAYE, Kneecap and Pulp. Kraftwerk's two UK dates add to a growing summer season that will draw electronic music fans and heritage acts to outdoor venues across the country.
