PKO Bank Polski and Allegro have announced that customers who link their personal accounts to the shopping platform and then walk to Allegro's headquarters in Poznań will receive a cashback bonus of 1200 zloty, paid out in real time as they complete the journey.
The bank has set up a series of checkpoints along the route, each staffed by a teller who verifies the customer's account linkage and hands over a portion of the bonus in cash. The first checkpoint, located at the bank's head office in Warsaw, dispenses 200 zloty. The second, at a highway rest stop near Konin, dispenses another 400 zloty. The final checkpoint, at Allegro's front gate, dispenses the remaining 600 zloty, but only after the customer has purchased a product from the platform using their linked account.
«We wanted to make the moneyback tangible,» said a bank spokesperson. «Instead of a digital transfer, we now offer a physical pilgrimage that rewards commitment. Customers who complete the walk receive a certificate of achievement, which they can frame and hang above their desk.»
The bank has also introduced a premium tier for customers who walk the route in under six hours. These customers receive an additional 300 zloty in cashback, dispensed in the form of a commemorative coin minted for the occasion. The coin features an engraving of a shopping cart and the words «Allegro Marathon Finisher.»
Since the program launched on Monday, the bank reports that over 500 customers have registered for the walk. Local authorities in Konin have erected temporary rest shelters and water stations along the route, and a roadside vendor has begun selling sandwiches shaped like the Allegro logo. The bank says it plans to extend the program to other cities if the initial response remains strong.
