Cruz Beckham made a surprise appearance during The Kooks' headline set at Rock N Roll Circus Norwich, joining frontman Luke Pritchard on stage to perform the track 'Jackie Big Tits'. The 21-year-old musician, son of David and Victoria Beckham, had already played earlier in the day with his own band The Breakers at the Earlham Park event on August 22.
Beckham returned to the stage during The Kooks' set to play guitar and share vocal duties with Pritchard on the song from the band's 2006 debut album 'Inside In/Inside Out'. The Kooks were performing that record in full as part of their tour celebrating its 20th anniversary. The Rock N Roll Circus bill also featured The Vaccines and The Fratellis, who played their respective debut albums 'What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?' and 'Costello Music' in their entirety.
The collaboration comes after Pritchard revealed last year that he and Beckham had been writing songs together. The Kooks singer praised Beckham's taste in music, noting they bonded over a shared appreciation for the early work of the Bee Gees. Pritchard also commented on Beckham's response to accusations of nepotism, saying he found Beckham's quip that 'Jesus was a nepo baby too' to be a funny and fitting reply.
Beckham released his debut EP 'Wear & Tear' on August 21, following the launch of his music career last year with the double A-side 'Optics' and 'Lick The Toad'. He has since put out the singles 'For Your Love' and 'Waste Your Pain'. His appearance with The Kooks marks the latest step in his emerging music career, which has drawn attention both for his family name and for his musical collaborations.
Both Beckham and The Kooks are scheduled to appear at Rock N Roll Circus in Sheffield's Don Valley Bowl on August 27, on a bill that also includes Richard Ashcroft, The Streets, Babyshambles and The Molotovs. Beckham and The Breakers are also set to perform at Reading & Leeds festival next weekend.
Rock N Roll Circus Norwich concludes on August 23, with Madness headlining a bill that also includes Ocean Colour Scene, The Wailers, The Selecter and David Rodigan. Earlier this summer, Lewis Capaldi brought out Pritchard to cover The Kooks' hit 'Naive' during his headline show at BST Hyde Park, describing it as 'one of the best songs ever written'.
