The Movies, Music, Entertainment & Sports Caucus began its first official act by physically relocating the entire film industry into the Capitol Rotunda, where production crews now shoot on the marble floor between the statues and the gift shop.
Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove, co-chairing the caucus, announced that all future legislative business will pause for a mandatory halftime show, during which members must perform a fully choreographed dance number before voting on any bill. «We found the acoustics in the Rotunda are better than any soundstage in Culver City,» she said, «so we moved the cameras in.»
The caucus has also instituted a training regime requiring every lawmaker to rehearse an acceptance speech for at least four hours daily, with a live orchestra playing during roll call. Staffers were issued uniforms resembling red-carpet attire and told to practice walking slowly toward the Speaker's chair while waving to an imaginary crowd.
By next week, the caucus plans to expand the Rotunda into a full stadium, installing turf along the National Statuary Hall and selling tickets to tourists who wish to watch Congress attempt a synchronized swimming routine in the Reflecting Pool. A museum wing dedicated to the caucus's first rehearsal is already under construction.
