Geordie Greep has canceled five dates on his North American tour after an allegation of sexual misconduct surfaced this week, a claim the former Black Midi frontman denied on stage in Vancouver.
The canceled shows were scheduled for Boise on October 9, Salt Lake City on October 10, Boulder on October 12, Denver on October 13 and Omaha on October 14. Only one US date, in Des Moines on October 15, remained listed and on sale at the time of writing. A European run is still scheduled to begin in Nijmegen on November 1, with further shows advertised in France, Spain and Portugal throughout the month.
Greep has not issued a public statement about the cancellations. They followed his on-stage response to the allegation at The Pearl in Vancouver on Thursday, October 8. Before that show, an attendee distributed flyers reading «Geordie Greep A Rapist» and «You know what you did this morning Oct 8th». The flyer did not provide further details about the allegation.
Greep eventually took to the stage without his backing band and addressed the crowd directly. He said he had been at a house party following a night out with members of his touring party. «Essentially, what happened last night, [was that] me and some of the band went out to some bars, we went out, we met people, and it ended up in a situation really late at a house party», he said. «I got the wrong end of the stick with someone who was there, and I made a move, and it didn't come off. I really quickly apologised, and it was a complete misunderstanding on my part, and I felt extremely bad, I feel extremely sorry, and extremely upset about the situation.»
He added: «I would never rape a woman. I'm not a rapist. It's not how that went down.»
Greep also explained why he was performing alone, saying: «It's a very strange thing to have happened and a very scary thing, so all of the band, I understand that I didn't want to force them to still play a show in the light of that happening.» He told the audience that refunds and departures were acceptable, saying: «We were unsure what the response would be to all this, and I can only tell you that it's OK if people want refunds, if they want to leave, it's fine.»
He said proceeds from the Vancouver show would be donated to an anti-violence organization in British Columbia. «I just wanted to be transparent with you about what happened», he continued. «I'm very, very, very sorry; I made someone uncomfortable without meaning to. It's not a good thing, it's not good.» He then performed a shortened solo set.
Greep launched his solo career following Black Midi's «indefinite» split in 2024, releasing his debut album «The New Sound» later that year. The canceled dates mark a significant disruption to his first major solo tour of North America, while the remaining US show and the European leg leave the broader run of the tour partly intact.
The cancellations also raise questions about how the remaining dates will proceed and whether Greep will address the allegation further. For now, no additional statement has been made, and the status of the Des Moines show and the European dates remains unchanged.
