Rare BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition Heads to Auction

A 2013 BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition, one of only 200 built, is up for auction on Bring a Trailer with extensive aftermarket modifications totalling over $50,000.

A rare 2013 BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition, one of just 200 produced, has been listed for auction on Bring a Trailer. The Fire Orange coupe has covered only 26,000 miles and carries an extensive list of aftermarket upgrades reportedly worth more than $50,000, making it a standout example of the E92-generation M3.

The Lime Rock Park Edition was created to mark the end of E92 M3 production and celebrate BMW's long association with the historic Connecticut racetrack. Developed with legendary racing instructor Skip Barber, it was more than a cosmetic package. Every car came in Fire Orange, a colour borrowed from the European M3 GTS, and included the Competition Package as standard. That brought a 10mm lower ride height, revised electronic damping and stability-control settings, and 19-inch Style 359M wheels. BMW also fitted a lightweight Inconel and titanium M Performance exhaust, around 40 per cent lighter than the standard unit, along with carbon-fibre front splitters and a rear spoiler. Inside, there was a flat-bottomed Alcantara steering wheel with a blue centre marker, special Anthracite and Black upholstery, and a numbered plaque on the centre console. Each car also received a unique rear-quarter-window decal depicting Lime Rock Park and a certificate of authenticity. The S65 4.0-litre V8 remained unchanged, producing 414bhp and 295lb ft of torque. Buyers could choose between a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission; this particular car has the latter.

This example has been thoroughly modified by its current owner, who acquired it in 2024 and has added approximately 3,000 miles since. The seller states that the modifications total around $52,600. Among the most striking changes are Satin Bronze 20-inch BBS FI-R wheels, valued at $9,500, which sit in front of retrofitted OEM carbon-ceramic brakes with gold calipers. Öhlins Road & Track DFV coilovers replace the original suspension. Exterior additions include a Euro-spec bumper, a GTS-style front lip and an AC Schnitzer rear spoiler. Under the bonnet, the V8 benefits from an Eventuri carbon-fibre intake, a CarboProject carbon-fibre plenum, Okada Projects ignition coils and revised engine management software. An Akrapovič Evolution titanium exhaust replaces the factory system, and a YCW carbon-fibre driveshaft is also fitted.

The car comes with service records, a clean Carfax report and a 2024 issue of der Bayerische magazine in which it was featured. It was previously listed for sale four years ago on Instagram with an asking price of $98,000; the car is more or less unchanged since then, though the odometer now reads 6,000 miles higher. The current auction sits at $49,999 with five days remaining. A reserve is noted, meaning the car could remain with its owner, although in the last two years only one Lime Rock Park Edition has failed to sell on the platform.

Recent sales of the Lime Rock Park Edition suggest a wide range of values depending on mileage and specification. In May, a highly modified example with 24,000 miles sold for $65,000. In July, a bone-stock car with 19,000 miles fetched $123,000. Given this car's mileage and modifications, expectations are likely to be closer to the modified car's result than the stock example's. The auction is being watched closely by enthusiasts of modern classic M cars, for whom the E92 M3's naturally aspirated V8, hydraulic steering and analogue driving experience make it one of the most desirable models of the past two decades.
