Kia will reveal its second electric van, the PV7, at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, Germany, on 14 September. The new model is positioned as a direct rival to long-wheelbase versions of the Ford Transit Custom and Mercedes-Benz Vito, and will serve as a larger sibling to the company’s existing PV5 electric van.
Teaser images released by Kia show a design language similar to the PV5, featuring a snub-nosed front end and tall, bar-like rear lights. At 5.2 metres long, the PV7 is significantly larger than the 4.6-metre PV5, placing it between long-wheelbase medium vans and full-sized options such as the Mercedes Sprinter and Vauxhall Movano.
Technical specifications have not been fully disclosed, but the PV7 is built on the same E-GMP.S architecture as the PV5, a platform derived from the one used in Kia’s electric cars. Given its larger size, the PV7 is expected to offer a bigger battery than the PV5’s 67kWh usable capacity pack, while maintaining a similar range of around 250 miles. It is likely to use the same front-mounted 161bhp electric motor as the PV5.
The PV7 will be crucial to Kia’s ambitions to expand its commercial vehicle business. The PV5 has already proven successful in the European market: according to industry body ACEA, 13,116 examples were sold in Europe during the first half of 2026, making it the best-selling small electric van in the region. Kia aims to sell 54,000 PV5s globally this year and has set a target of 232,000 van sales before the end of the decade.
The reveal at IAA Transportation will provide more details on the PV7’s specifications, including its battery capacity, range, and pricing. The van is expected to play a key role in Kia’s push to capture a larger share of the electric commercial vehicle market, which is growing as businesses seek to reduce emissions and operating costs.
