Honda has offered a first glimpse of a refreshed version of its budget-friendly Elevate SUV, revealing a series of exterior and interior updates designed to keep the model competitive in India's crowded small-SUV segment. The teaser, released ahead of a scheduled debut on October 6, points to a mild facelift rather than a full redesign, with the most visible changes concentrated at the front and rear of the vehicle.
The updated Elevate adopts a redesigned grille with segmented LEDs positioned between the daytime running lights, along with dark trim that echoes the rugged styling of the Toyota RAV4 Adventure. The Honda emblem has been relocated to the hood, while the headlights and side bumper intakes appear to carry over from the current model. At the rear, the pre-existing light clusters gain full-width LED graphics, a subtle but modernising touch.
Inside, the teaser provides a brief look at the cabin, where the passenger side of the dashboard now features more white leatherette padding in place of wood trim, complemented by ambient lighting. The infotainment display is not shown, but the current setup offers either an 8-inch or 10.25-inch screen. Honda is expected to enhance equipment levels to make the Elevate more appealing to Indian buyers, though specific new features have not been confirmed.
Mechanically, the facelifted Elevate is likely to retain its naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which produces 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through either a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The SUV shares its underpinnings with the Honda City sedan and measures 4,312 mm in length.
Honda has not yet announced pricing for the updated model, but the current Elevate ranges from ₹11.81 lakh to ₹16.36 lakh (approximately $12,300 to $17,000). The facelift will need to fend off established rivals in the Indian market, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Renault Duster, and Nissan Tekton.
The Indian-spec Elevate is also exported to Japan as the WR-V, and the mild facelift is expected to be mirrored in that version. The update comes roughly three years after the Elevate's original debut. Honda previously explored a more rugged direction for the model with the Elevate Field Explorer concept, unveiled in late 2023, which featured similar styling cues and accessories. The production facelift appears to draw on that concept's aesthetic without adopting its full off-road modifications.
With the official debut set for October 6, Honda is positioning the Elevate to remain a credible option in a segment where freshness and value are critical. The changes are modest, but they address the areas most visible to customers and could help the model sustain its momentum until a more substantial overhaul arrives.
