Mayur More and Ashlesha Thakur will star in Beta Builder, the first AI-driven feature film from a partnership between India’s Abundantia Entertainment and video technology company InVideo. Principal photography on the project began in Mumbai on the day the casting was announced.
The film has InVideo’s Global Creative Lead, Hridaye A. Nagpal, attached to direct. The producers have said the Indian city will serve as a central backdrop for the production, placing Mumbai at the center of an experiment that brings generative technology into feature filmmaking.
The project is presented as a debut feature for the collaboration between Abundantia Entertainment and InVideo, which together frame it as a test of how artificial intelligence tools can be woven into the making of a movie. The initial announcement did not disclose the film’s story, budget or release plans, leaving those questions open for now.
Casting the two leads gives the project a conventional anchor within an unconventional production model. Mayur More and Ashlesha Thakur bring established on-screen presences to a project whose creative method is the bigger draw, allowing the producers to pair familiar performers with an emerging toolset.
The partnership itself reflects a broader shift in how video technology companies are positioning themselves. InVideo, known for tools that help creators generate and edit video content, is moving from software into the production of a full-length narrative work. For Abundantia Entertainment, the collaboration marks an entry into AI-assisted filmmaking at the feature level.
Filmmakers and studios around the world are watching closely as AI tools move from pre-production and visual effects into more ambitious creative roles. An Indian feature built around this approach adds a new case to that debate, and the Mumbai shoot will serve as an early public test of whether the model can move from announcement to finished film.
