Peacock is betting heavily on horror for October, stocking its library with a deep roster of scary movies and debuting an original prequel series tied to one of the genre's most recognizable franchises. The streaming service will add dozens of titles on October 1, ranging from slasher classics to supernatural thrillers, before rolling out the exclusive series Crystal Lake on October 15.
The centerpiece of the month is Crystal Lake, a Peacock exclusive that serves as a prequel to the Friday the 13th films. The series focuses on Jason's mother in the aftermath of her son's death, set before the events of the original 1980 movie. It arrives 17 years after the last Friday the 13th feature film, a gap that gives the franchise a fresh entry point for longtime fans and newcomers alike. The show is positioned to explore the people and events that shaped one of horror's most iconic villains.
October 1 brings the bulk of the new catalog. The Blade trilogy — Blade, Blade II, and Blade: Trinity — returns to streaming, a notable addition given that the films have been harder to find since Wesley Snipes' cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. The Mummy (1999) also joins the lineup, arriving ahead of a planned fourth installment in the franchise set for October 2027, with Brendan Fraser reportedly training for the new film. Train to Busan, the Korean zombie thriller, rounds out the top picks, following a businessman and his daughter as they fight to survive a train overrun by the undead.
The broader October 1 slate leans into established horror properties. The Scream franchise — Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 3 — arrives alongside the first four Friday the 13th films, including the 1980 original and its first three sequels. The Paranormal Activity series brings five entries, from the original through The Marked Ones. Other additions include 28 Weeks Later, American Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs, The Ring, Sinister, The Grudge, The Omen (1976), The Fly (1986), Rob Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II, and the Saw and Hostel titles.
Family-friendly and lighter genre fare is mixed in as well. Coraline, ParaNorman, Monster House, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Freaky Friday, and The Spiderwick Chronicles all land on the same day, giving subscribers options beyond pure horror. Comedies like Scary Movie and Boo! A Madea Halloween also join the service.
Later in the month, Night Swim arrives October 5, followed by Crystal Lake on October 15 and the Haunted Heist Newlyweds special on October 24. Peacock notes that the October list is subject to change pending additional announcements.
