Liam Gallagher Says Fontaines D.C. «Not Good Enough» to Open Oasis Live '27 Tour

Liam Gallagher dismissed Fontaines D.C. as a potential support act for Oasis' sold-out Live '27 tour, saying the Irish band «don't have any tunes» — the latest exchange in a long-running war of words.

Liam Gallagher has ruled out Fontaines D.C. as a support act for Oasis' upcoming Live '27 tour, telling a fan on social media that the Irish band are «not good enough» and «don't have any tunes.» The remark, posted on October 16, revives a feud that began when members of Fontaines D.C. publicly shrugged off Oasis' 2024 reunion.

The exchange follows the release of Fontaines D.C.'s new album, «Dopamine Chamber,» which arrived on October 16 and was previewed with an intimate show at London's Roundhouse the night before. When a fan asked why Oasis would not book the group for the Live '27 run, Gallagher's answer was blunt: «There not good enough they don't have any tunes.» Representatives for Fontaines D.C. have been contacted for comment.

The friction dates back to 2024, when Fontaines guitarist Carlos O'Connell said the band «couldn't really give a shit» about the Oasis reunion. Bassist Conor Deegan III added that he was not excited either, arguing that the reunion fed a nostalgia for the 2010s that distracted from new music. «For Oasis to reform at this moment for us is really annoying,» he said at the time. Gallagher responded then by calling the band «little spunkbubbles» and mocking their appearance, writing that they looked like «a shit EMF.»

Not every member of Fontaines D.C. shared that view. Frontman Grian Chatten distanced himself from his bandmates' comments, writing on a social media post that he loves Oasis and that the criticism was «not my opinion.» The split reaction left room for the latest round of comments, which Gallagher delivered without further elaboration.

Oasis announced the Live '27 tour on September 14 after months of speculation. Noel Gallagher said the band decided to head out again after their second Wembley show on the Live '25 tour in July 2025, explaining: «We were having such a great time… why wouldn't we?» The run was later expanded due to «phenomenal demand,» and all 42 dates have sold out. The itinerary includes five nights at Glasgow's Celtic Park, 11 at Manchester's Etihad Stadium, six at Knebworth, two at Slane Castle, and dates across mainland Europe and the US.

Noel Gallagher has promised the Live '27 shows will be «so much better» than the 2025 reunion tour, saying the band will be «way more relaxed» the second time around. So far, Richard Ashcroft is the only confirmed support act for all forthcoming dates; he previously joined Oasis on their Live '25 UK shows.

Fontaines D.C., meanwhile, have had an eventful week of their own. At the Roundhouse show, Chatten told the crowd the band had endured a «very tough year,» appearing to refer to the death of manager Trevor Dietz in June. The group performed «Favourite,» a single from their 2023 album «Romance.» Their new record, «Dopamine Chamber,» has drawn strong reviews, with one five-star assessment calling the band «the definitive band of this decade.» A Fontaines D.C. special filmed at Alexandra Palace for «Later… With Jools Holland» is set to air in November, with the intimate set available on iPlayer the following week.
