Epic Games has revealed the first details of Fortnitemares 2026, the annual Halloween event for its battle royale hit Fortnite, and this year's edition will include a crossover with the horror franchise Five Nights At Freddy's. The studio shared key artwork and a teaser trailer over the weekend, giving players their first look at the seasonal content ahead of its launch on October 1.
The centerpiece of the new artwork is Freddy Fazbear, the haunted animatronic bear at the heart of the Five Nights At Freddy's games, leading a lineup of horror characters. Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare On Elm Street appears alongside him, and the image also contains references to The Purge, The Slender Man, Beetlejuice, and the manga series Black Clover. The post was accompanied by a short message from the official Fortnite account: «Tricks n treats 4 u.»
A 40-second teaser trailer offered a closer look at three potential Five Nights At Freddy's skins that will be available as part of the collaboration. The clip has already become one of the most-viewed posts ever published by the official Fortnite X account, underlining the scale of interest in the crossover. A separate post from the account teased the collaboration further with the phrase «IT'S ME!» and a reference to October 1 and series creator Scott Cawthon.
Fortnitemares has been a fixture of the Fortnite calendar since the first season launched in 2017, with Epic Games bringing horror favorites into the game every October. This year's event arrives before Chapter Seven's final season begins in November, giving players a limited window to engage with the seasonal content. According to Fortnite content creators, a number of new sprites have already been confirmed for the event, and previous Fortnitemares collaborations are expected to return to the item store. Epic Games has said more details will be shared later this week.
The Five Nights At Freddy's crossover continues a busy period for Fortnite's brand partnerships. Last week, it was announced that Madison Beer was joining the game's Icon series after she publicly asked Epic Games to add her. In a statement following the reveal, Beer compared the collaboration to major career milestones, saying: «I would say this is definitely up there with being nominated for a Grammy and playing Madison Square Garden.» She added that Fortnite is among the things in her life she is «just obsessed with» and «would die for.»
The Fortnitemares announcement also lands amid wider activity in the gaming industry. It has been reported that Rockstar Games is working on a sequel to L.A. Noire to follow the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, a project that has drawn intense attention from players and analysts alike. For now, Fortnite's focus remains on its Halloween season, with the Five Nights At Freddy's collaboration positioned as the headline attraction when Fortnitemares 2026 goes live on October 1.
