McLaren is preparing a new mid-engined hybrid supercar that will sit between the Artura and the 750S, offering more torque than the 750S while costing significantly less. The model, currently known internally as the P34, was confirmed to dealers during a recent meeting in which the British marque outlined several new vehicles planned through 2028.
The P34 will be powered by a newly developed twin-turbocharged hybrid V6 engine. According to an unnamed McLaren retailer, it will produce around 800 lb-ft of torque, although no horsepower figure has been disclosed. That output comfortably exceeds the 750S, whose 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivers 590 lb-ft, and the Artura, which musters 531 lb-ft from its hybridised V6.
Despite the stronger performance, the P34 is expected to be cheaper than the 750S. The retailer indicated a starting price of roughly $313,000 — about $60,000 more than the Artura and around $45,000 less than the 750S. That positioning would make the P34 the most accessible route into McLaren's core supercar range while still offering a substantial step up in torque over both existing models.
McLaren's design team has drawn on the company's racing heritage for the P34, with styling said to be inspired by the iconic F1. The car will feature a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment screen, and a tempered-glass engine cover. These details align with the brand's recent push to combine modern technology with its motorsport lineage.
The P34 is one of several new models McLaren has confirmed to its dealer network. The company is also reportedly developing a front-engined grand tourer that is expected to take the unusual form of a sedan rather than an SUV. In addition, several heritage-inspired supercars are on the agenda, following the positive reception of the recently introduced McL 6GT.
McLaren's product offensive comes after a period of relative quiet. A few years ago, the brand seemed to launch an exciting new model every six months, but recent activity has been more subdued, with the W1 standing as a notable exception. The company is now owned by Abu Dhabi's CYVN Holdings and has recently completed a merger with British EV startup Forseven, giving it fresh backing and a restructured engineering base.
The confirmation of the P34 and other models signals a renewed push to broaden McLaren's appeal. By slotting a high-torque hybrid between the Artura and 750S, the brand aims to offer a compelling blend of performance and value. The front-engined grand tourer, meanwhile, would mark a departure from McLaren's traditional mid-engined layout and could open the marque to a new segment of buyers.
Full technical specifications, performance figures, and a launch date for the P34 have yet to be announced. The model is expected to arrive as part of the product plan running through 2028, alongside the grand tourer and the heritage-inspired supercars. McLaren has not publicly commented on the dealer meeting or the specific details reported by the retailer.
