Jay-Z has launched an immersive pop-up installation at London's Trafalgar Square, expanding his UK takeover ahead of two headline shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week. The large-scale experience, open from Tuesday September 1 through Saturday September 5 between 11am and 7pm, is designed to transport fans back to 2001, the year he released his landmark album 'The Blueprint'.
The installation features period televisions screening music videos, live performances and programming from that era, alongside a range of limited-edition merchandise created specifically for the UK concerts. It follows the opening of an exclusive JAŸ-Z 30 pop-up store at the UMusic Shop in Camden's Stables Market on Chalk Farm Road, which launched last week and remains open until September 2. The Camden location has hosted nightly DJ sets from 5pm to 7pm, with appearances so far from DJ Target, DJ Manny Norté, DJ Semtex and DJ Esi.
Both events celebrate the rapper bringing his 'JAŸ-Z 30' world tour to the UK, where he will headline Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 4 and 5. The shows mark the 25th anniversary of 'The Blueprint' while also looking back at three decades of Jay-Z releasing music. The tour kicked off with three nights at Yankee Stadium in New York City, featuring surprise guest appearances from Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Usher, Eminem, Nas, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Slick Rick, Fat Joe, Jadakiss and Teyana Taylor, among others.
Following the London dates, Jay-Z will perform in Paris on September 10 before returning to the United States for shows in Los Angeles on October 23 and 24. The pop-up events give fans in the UK capital a chance to engage with his catalogue beyond the concerts themselves, blending nostalgia with exclusive merchandise tied to the tour.
Beyond the tour, Jay-Z has remained active in the studio. He recently released a new song with Eminem and Rakim, marking their first collaboration in 25 years, and delivered his first original rap verse in four years on a remix of Beyoncé's 'Morning Dew (Donk)'. A new docuseries about Jay-Z has also been confirmed for a MUBI release, featuring the rapper in conversation with Rick Rubin about his life, career and music.
Despite ongoing speculation about a follow-up to his 2017 album '4:44', collaborator Cash Cobain has dismissed rumours of a new album, saying Jay-Z told him recently that he is 'absolutely not dropping an album' anytime soon.
