Anthropic Employees Now Donate So Much That Company Must Build Second Headquarters Just to Store Thank-You Letters

Anthropic's employee donation program, which triples early-employee contributions and tops up stock gifts, has spiraled so far beyond any corporate precedent that the company is constructing a second campus solely to house the incoming thank-you correspondence and to process the sheer volume of charitable giving.

Anthropic broke ground this week on a second headquarters in San Francisco, not for engineers or servers, but for the sorting, cataloguing and ceremonial acknowledgment of employee charitable donations, which have grown so vast that the company's existing mailroom collapsed under the weight of thank-you letters from every nonprofit in North America.

The program, which triples contributions from early employees and matches every stock donation with extra shares, has produced a giving rate so extreme that Anthropic now employs a full-time Director of Gratitude Logistics, whose sole job is to schedule the trucks that arrive daily from food banks, universities and disaster-relief funds, each carrying pallets of handwritten notes.

«We had to lease three warehouses just for the envelopes,» said a company spokesperson, speaking calmly from a podium built atop a mountain of unopened thank-you cards. «The tripling match means every dollar an early employee gives becomes three, and every stock gift becomes a small avalanche. We are now the largest single source of funding for roughly four hundred charities, and they will not stop writing to us.»

Employees have reportedly begun donating in shifts, with entire teams rotating through a dedicated giving floor where they click «donate» on a screen while colleagues behind them click «triple» on a second screen. The company has installed a conveyor belt to move stock certificates from the vault to the matching department and back again, and has hired a full orchestra to play soothing music during the twice-daily donation rush.

By next quarter, Anthropic plans to open a visitor center where the public can watch the donation process through reinforced glass, and a gift shop selling replicas of the thank-you letters that started it all.
